Merluna is located 120klms south east of the bauxite mining town of Weipa. It is Approx 720 klms North West of Cairns (by road) and 8 klms off the Peninsula Development Road.

Aero Tropics flies into Merluna each Wednesday on the mail run. They carry a limited number of passengers and is an excellent way to see a huge part of Cape York from the air. They also do charters flights. Qantas has flights into Weipa from Cairns daily, charter planes and hire cars are available in Weipa.

Merluna has a 1000m all weather airstrip situated at co-ordinates 13°03’58"S and 142°27’02"E. Notification of arrival is required.

It’s about a 1½ hour drive from Weipa over an unsealed road and around 10 hours from Cairns, with approximately 400klms of unsealed road which can, at times, be rough.

There’s a lot to see and do along the way.
